The successful candidate will serve as an expert statistical leader in the Oncology Biomarker Statistics team and will have the opportunity to be closely engaged and significantly influence the translational medicine efforts and companion diagnostic development.

In this critical and highly visible role, the Research Unit Head of Statistics in Immuno-Oncology & Combinations will deliver end-to-end statistical leadership from discovery through to development and commercialization to deliver clearly differentiated medicines to our patients.

You will partner with the RU head in clinical development to fully understand the strategic objectives, science and rationale of novel immune-oncology targets with various pathways. Leveraging your statistical expertise, you will identify the opportunities implement or apply novel statistical methodologies unique to immune-oncology assets, and establish the reputation both domestically and internationally as a thought leader in statistics. You will also be a people leader who is able to build, lead and develop a team of statistical experts.

GSK Oncology has a commitment to the discovery and development of new oncology therapies with the life-changing potential of helping patients with cancer, specifically in four areas of cancer research: Cancer Epigenetics, Immuno-Oncology, Oncology Cell & Gene Therapy and Synthetic Lethality.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Set and lead the biostatistical strategy and technical expertise for the immune-oncology & combinations (IOC) research unit, including opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement

As a Statistician and Mathematician you will develop and apply fundamental mathematics and mathematical or statistical theory to collect, organize, interpret, and summarize illicit finance and other data to advance analytic impact for counter narcotic missions. You’ll validate the information and apply client tradecraft as you build theories to validate analytic assessments throughout the intelligence cycle for senior policymakers. Leverage expertise in mathematics and statistical methodologies, tools, and databases to assist with the development of analysis informing senior policymakers and DoD officials of military capabilities, political-military issues and military strategies, and the doctrine and intent of the specified client area of responsibility (AOR). You’ll develop and maintain expertise in mathematical and statistical theories to enable modernization of analytic processes and develop more efficient and automated methods for the processing of data.

Required Qualifications:

 

  • 5+ years of experience with the development and application of mathematical and statistical theories and problem-sets
  • Experience with designing complex metrics projects that apply valid scientific techniques for the processing of data
  • Experience with tools and methods, including Regression Analysis, Stata, R, Python, SPSS, or Data Modeling
  • Knowledge of the intelligence community (IC) and Combatant Command environments

Overview of Role:
  • Protocols: Directs the development of statistical designs and analysis procedures for scientific protocols, ensuring they are scientifically sound, aligned with project strategy, meet regulatory objectives and make optimal use of the data to be collected. Ensure statistical analysis plan is methodologically sound and consistent with objectives of the protocol. Develop project and functional standards of data collection and analysis, and implement these standards.
  • Database Activities: Collaborate with Data Sciences, Statistical Programming and other stakeholders to ensure data collection instruments and database implementation meets short and long-term project needs. Guide development and implementation of project-specific data standards. Guide and ensure timely execution of all database-related DSS activities for project.
  • Statistical Analyses: Demonstrate excellent understanding of statistical concepts and methodology. Propose novel statistical methodological approaches leading to improvements in the efficiency and sensitivity of study results. Provide sufficient detail to allow programming implementation. Ensure that all statistical analyses specified in scientific protocols and analysis plans are conducted appropriately. Determine need for development of novel statistical methodology.
  • Reports and Publications: Ensure that study results and conclusions are scientifically sound, clearly presented, and supported by statistical analyses. Prepare oral and written reports to communicate results. Represent Data and Statistical Sciences on project issues at management review and project team meetings.   • Consultation: Interact with stakeholders so that appropriate statistical methods are adequately and consistently applied in deliverables. Provide statistical insight in addressing questions. Basic:
  • MS (with a minimum of 12 years of experience) or PhD (with a minimum of 8 years of experience) in Statistics, Biostatistics, or a highly related field.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Advanced knowledge of statistical methodology including experimental design, descriptive statistics, inferential statistics, statistical modeling, and statistical programming. Must have demonstrated exemplary statistical experience in managing and completing multiple projects or equivalent experience.
  • At least 12 years (MS) or 8 years (PhD) of experience in pharmaceutical development. Experience in leading NDA, BLA, and or CTD submission preferred (for clinical statistics only). Understanding of and global regulatory requirements. Experience interacting with regulatory agencies highly desirable.
  • Management experience required for people managers.

 
Sapatial Statistics Scientist
Booz Allen Hamilton – Springfield, VA

Work as a scientific programmer on a fast-paced research and development team on spectral and motion imagery systems addressing image collection, characterization, and exploitation problems. Apply remote sensing principles and methods to analyze data and solve problems, including automating data analysis using machine learning, characterize existing and new sensor systems, develop new and improve data analysis techniques, and propose collection strategies to address new signature development. Support informational briefings for educating scientists and managers on research outcomes and the impact on the mission. Apply spatial temporal statistical methods to aggregate and classify objects in data from multiple sources and with varying degrees of confidence.
