The role of a Print Production Manager in Marcom is to bring creative concepts to life in multiple print mediums. In this role, you will be instrumental in producing 2D elements on behalf of Apple with a goal of maintaining the highest visual standards of one of the most beloved and empowering brands through all vehicles by which marketing and advertising appears and is maintained globally.

Key Qualifications

  • 5-10 years minimum of print production expertise within a creative agency or production environment equivalent.
  • The Print Production Manager role provides print production expertise, strong purchasing and project management skills and the ability to maintain schedules and budgets for all pre-press and printed materials on various substrates.
  • The range of work includes, but is not limited to, pre-press, packaging, large corporate event graphics, collateral projects, retail window and in-store graphics, signage, gift cards, and premiums.
  • Expert color analysis skills and extensive experience working pre-press in RGB and CMYK with an eye towards quality and detail.
  • Strong working knowledge of image creation from CGI and photography through retouching approval.
  • Ability to handle large volumes of intricate, high resolution imagery; from internal creative handoffs to external vendor kickoffs, through final asset deliveries.
  • Facilitation of Creative Team’s art direction, ensuring accurate interpretation and follow-through on multiple assets and versions.
  • Functional ability to review files in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop files.
  • Deep knowledge of large and small format litho and inkjet printing, dye-sublimation, and specialty finishing techniques. On-press experience and expertise in all aspects of production is expected.
  • Comfortable with figuring out specs, estimating and/or competitively bidding all projects, maintaining budgets; communicating any obstacles that would require additional funding; conducting negotiations with suppliers as necessary.
  • During peak launch/refresh periods, evening and weekend work may be required.
  • Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally, often at short notice.

You are an outstanding Print Production Manager who is flexible, proactive, highly organized, excellent at multi-tasking, very comfortable under pressure, and able to work effectively as a team member. You will work cross-functionally with other teams within Marcom and are responsible for facilitating effective routing and reviewing of projects through the department. Ability to implement highly complex initiatives and to recommend the best course of action on all production-related considerations. Communicates fully, effectively and diplomatically, and exhibits proactive, critical thinking and execution. RESPONSIBILITIES

Associate Manager/Manager of Production, F+W Reprints

Penguin Random House is seeking an Associate Manager or Manager to join the production team in Penguin Publishing Group! This role will manage production and manufacturing a mix of 1/c and 4/c reprints for the F+W imprint with a backlist list of approximately 6,000 titles. Working with a variety of internal departments, including Editorial, Managing Editorial, and Inventory, this position plays a key role in the process of creating a physical book.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Obtain quotations from vendors and analyze pricing, focusing on domestic vs overseas manufacture.
  • Issuing the book and component purchase orders for F+W reprints.
  • Confirm book specs from legacy sources, down spec as needed, and update the system network.
  • Coordinate with paper department for special order text stock.
  • Evaluate files for completeness, as well as ordering and routing corrections for approval.
  • Negotiating schedules with the internal publishing teams and with external vendors.
  • Follow up with our vendors to ensure that schedules are being held.
  • Reconcile invoices.
  • Running P&L estimates for reprints as needed for the sales and inventory teams.
  • Check for quality issues between reprinted editions, which include color consistency, matching component printings, potential bindings, and interior text print issues on reprint sample copies.
  • Archive all relavent materials and maintain sample library.
  • Attend reprint meetings as needed and liaising regularly with inventory management, managing editorial, and front list production.
