Within our group, we recently created a new Pricing Design team. The Pricing Design teams core responsibilities include determination of pricing program structure and design, development of tools, reporting and analysis, and final negotiations with law firms to implement pricing programs. These responsibilities have been longstanding within Legal Strategic Services and were recently consolidated into this dedicated team to combine our groups expertise in litigation management and analytics.

In this highly-visible role you will be a member of a newly created Pricing Design team. You will collaborate closely with our team of analysts and data scientists, as well as legal professionals involved in all aspects of firm relationship management. You will also work closely with stakeholder teams and leadership across the organization. You’ll produce in-depth analysis and decision support tools for our stakeholders internal to Legal as well as the Claims organizations in all SBUs.

Responsibilities:

In support of the teams responsibilities, in this role you will:

  • Have direct ownership of existing pricing programs such as alternative fee arrangements and discount programs
  • Conduct deep-dive quantitative and qualitative analysis to assess health of pricing programs and scoping of new programs to consider
  • Research, design, and propose new pricing programs and strategies focused on value-based and incentive-based fee arrangements for both high-volume policyholder litigation and more complex legal matters across all legal disciplines
  • Develop tools and reporting that support data driven recommendations, offer operational oversight, and support law firm negotiations
  • Conduct analysis into trends and actionable opportunities
  • Conduct market intelligence gathering and associated analysis
  • Work extensively with clients across Legal and SBU partners to understand business requirements and priorities, proactively identify opportunities, and provide analytics-based insights with actionable recommendations
  • Develop and deliver compelling narratives integrating business concerns, technical concepts, and analytic findings, to key stakeholders at all levels of our partner organizations
  • Mentor junior team members and non-technical peers to structure, drive, and communicate project results

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in quantitative discipline (Economics, Business Analytics, Operations Research, Engineering, etc.). Advanced degree a plus.
  • At least 5 years’ professional experience applying advanced analytics to solving real-world business problems.
  • Adept at framing business questions and practices in analytic terms, and translating business requirements into corresponding datasets, analyses, reports, and presentations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to derive trends and potential business impact from data and analysis
  • Ability to synthesize analysis into stories for senior management audience
  • Experience in pricing and rate making strategies a plus.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in SAS, R, or other statistical analysis tools, as well as advanced Excel features, required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in other analytic software tools such as Tableau, PowerBI, Hyperion, Cognos, Access, etc., preferred.
  • Experience with very large analysis datasets and Enterprise-scale database systems.
  • Ability to perform high-level work both independently and collaboratively as an Agile team member or leader.

General

The Honeywell Building Solutions (HBS) Senior Pricing Manager will work cross-functionally with the Projects & Services Leadership team to develop and implement global pricing strategies that utilize fact based analytical approach considering competitive analysis, market attractiveness and overall business strategy. The successful candidate will also guide and improve the pricing capabilities of the organization by working closely with offering management, marketing, senior management and the sales teams to maximize profitability and top line growth.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Partner with Projects & Services GMs to develop HBS price strategy and policy. Gain agreement of the differentiated price actions, timelines and effectively execute.
  • Own the development of the annual price plan. Develop a pipeline of price actions to support meeting annual targets. Track progress and effectiveness of the actions.
  • Partner with HBT Pricing Operations to develop pricing analytics capabilities that support execution of the Services and Project Price Strategy.
  • Develop and track key Project and Services pricing KPIs. Report out monthly pricing realization and develop contingency plans to improve price realization.
  • Create robust pricing guidelines based on customer, solution, regional and vertical attributes to improve profitability of HBS Projects. Gain buy in with key stakeholders and implement.
  • Coordinate implementation of guidelines within the HBS quoting process and tools.
  • Analyze and evaluate the Services Price strategy. Develop and implement actions to improve the price realization of Reactive and T&M quoting.
  • Partner with the Services Sales team to improve price realization of services contracts.
  • Accountable for developing and implementing programs to minimize transactional price erosion. Develop actions to support the effective use of discounting, payment terms etc to support profitable growth.
  • Be the pricing thought leader for the business. Develop a change management program to move away from Cost Plus to a Value Based pricing approach. Lead training to improve adoption of price intelligence tools.

  • Min of 5 years of Pricing or Aftermarket Services management experience.

General Summary:

Under the general supervision and direction of Client Value Managers (the “Managers”), and following prescribed department, office and firm procedures, the Pricing Analyst (the “Analyst”) will support the firm’s practice groups and each group’s teams with the pricing requests and fee estimates with the goal of raising the firm’s profitability and market share while helping to maintain and deliver the maximum and expected client value. The Analyst’s primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: (i) assisting with the development, evaluation and execution of the firm’s pricing strategies and fee estimates; (ii) helping ensure that pricing strategies are aligned with client needs; (iii) assisting with tracking, measuring and reporting the firm’s non-standard pricing arrangements in accordance with defined financial and business performance objectives. The Analyst is expected to perform all responsibilities with a commitment to providing superior service to the firm’s clients, attorneys, advisors and staff, and maintaining an atmosphere of teamwork and continuous improvement. Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Duties are performed throughout every work day, as necessary):

  • Work with Managers and attorneys to help model and develop pricing strategies and fee estimates (non-standard and alternative fee arrangements) that take into account firm/attorney needs and objectives, practice group/team or firm goals, and key performance indicators, as well as client requirements.
  • Serve as a resource for Managers and attorneys, offering credible financial information by compiling historical financial data in a useful format and using information to help proactively inform strategic pricing decisions.
  • Support Client Value Managers and Business Development in the preparation and/or review of RFPs/business development proposals relating specifically to strategic pricing, alternative fees, and budgetary fee estimates and assist with compiling written proposal content as requested/needed.
  • Assist with procurement rate/fee negotiations, including liaising with the Billing and Compliance teams as needed to ensure negotiated rates/fees are correctly implemented.
  • For identified clients/matters with existing fixed pricing arrangements, work with the Managers and Legal Project Analyst to review and revise pricing (if and/as needed with support from the Managers) to best meet shifting client/firm priorities or mandates.
  • Track and maintain pertinent information relating to all pricing and budgeting/fee estimate efforts and offerings across the firm and assist with data integrity efforts in ADERANT and Prosperoware’s Umbria Platform.
  • Work with Managers to build reports to analyze ongoing realization and profitability of engagements, particularly focused on the success or failure of initial pricing strategies in producing profitable outcomes.
  • Share relevant legal market and competitor information and analysis with the Client Value team.
  • Participate, if and as needed, in the review of Outside Counsel Guidelines for pricing or project management guidelines impacting the practice groups.
  • Collaborate and work with the Managers and other infrastructure teams in the performance of special projects as assigned.

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • High proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint and the ability to quickly learn and utilize additional software and systems; experience with SQL a plus
  • Data-driven and/or financial analytics experience preferred
  • Understanding of financial management and business drivers, and ability to think strategically and analytically (issue-spot)
  • General knowledge of industry business acumen; apply sound judgment and discretion with respect to confidential and sensitive information
  • Ability to communicate persuasively, both orally and in writing (visual reports, graphs, etc.)
  • Strong ability to work independently and with teams, creatively and proactively

What’s the Role

Job Summary

The pricing analyst will work to support Sterling’s strategic pricing initiative. The individual will report to the Pricing Function Director and will be responsible for analyzing the impact of pricing decisions, monitoring pricing exceptions and communicating them throughout the organization.

  • Contribute to the pricing strategy and ensure pricing impact is achieved by providing detailed analyses to assist divisions in their pricing decisions

Major Responsibilities

The Pricing analyst will be responsible for several items:

  • Prepare analysis for price list and price policy discussions

What Strategic Pricing contributes to Cardinal Health

Strategic Pricing is responsible for developing, communicating and leading the execution of business strategy and customer profitability through pricing and value-capturing activities at both the strategic and tactical levels. Serves as an effective liaison with senior executive management, marketing, legal, finance, sales, and IT.

  • Demonstrates knowledge and experience with pricing processes, systems, and controls and implements as necessary.
  • Prepares, manipulates and extracts data and information from multiple internal and external sources and leverages to develop and execute pricing strategies
  • Demonstrates knowledge of customer deal economics, financial modeling techniques, and related pricing strategies.
  • Works effectively across functions such as IT, Marketing and Finance to design and implement new or enhancements to existing processes, systems, and tools.
  • Communicates effectively across the organization regarding profitization opportunities and key pricing insights.
  • Develops, communicates and monitors price recommendations and guardrails for deals and products by performing basic pricing analysis or leveraging and synthesizing advanced analytics of internal and external intelligence.
  • Develops, implements and maintains pricing programs designed to enhance pricing margin.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in related field, or equivalent work experience highly preferred
  • Advanced computer skills, especially Excel and Access
  • Strong communication skills

  • Minimum 3-5 years of general business experience preferred
