The transportation team is growing and we are looking for a Field engineer to join the Boston team to support the Installation and Construction Oversight Lead and Project Engineers with field related signaling activities that concern the Signals, Yards, Enhancements and Alewife cross-over projects.The Field Engineer (FE) responsibilities will include:

  • Focus on documenting all installation, construction, test and commissioning activities using the PMIS system (e-Builder®).
  • Monitoring the DB Entity’s compliance with the approved safe method of work, compliance with conformed contract drawings and client policy.
  • Generating daily field reports utilizing PMIS software reporting contractor’s progress, level of effort, and issues that develop in the field
  • Use the client Field Inspector’s Handbook as a guide for monitoring the project work.
  • Document changed conditions and potential changes to scope with photographs and daily report narratives,
  • Use PMIS to monitor and record the Force Account work and the level of effort.
  • During design and contract procurement supports the and constructability reviews, and review of plans at Preliminary, Intermediate and Final Design

During project installation and construction the FE will:

ANC is looking for its next Lead Field Technician in the D.C. market!

In this role, the Lead Field Technician is responsible for leading the ongoing operations and maintenance of signage systems and LED displays in Washington, D.C.; primarily for the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (“WMATA”). From front-line technical support and client communications to the onsite management of part-time technicians, the Lead Field Technician will work cross-functionally with numerous teams and stakeholders – both internal and external – to represent ANC and its “gold standard” reputation of excellence in the field.

This is a full-time, non-exempt (hourly) position and reports directly to the Manager of Field Operations for Washington, D.C. The ideal candidate has flexibility to accommodate a sometimes-unpredictable schedule, including possible evening or weekend work, and has ongoing access to reliable transportation as frequent local travel will be required. Some regional or other domestic travel may also be required.

What you’ll do…

    • Serve as ANC’s representative in the field to clients, vendors, partners and other stakeholders for the Washington D.C. market.
    • Primarily operate and maintain signage systems and LED displays (scheduling, maintenance, etc.) for WMATA and its multiple transit centers/stations.
    • Cross-functional collaboration with Technical Support, Client Services, and others to meet the needs of the client.
    • Lead any necessary client or market-specific training for field staff support.
    • Onsite management of any part-time field technicians.
    • Oversight and/or coordination of all onsite repairs.
    • Troubleshooting of software-related problems and other technical issues.
    • Manage inventory of all spare parts and necessary supplies.

  • Basic knowledge of LED display and/or audio-visual systems.

  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with Windows operating system.
  • A highly organized self-starter who can handle shifting priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Physical stamina and comfortable working at higher elevations (ex. heavy team lifts, 30 or 40+ ft. climbs).

Our Pasadena office is seeking a temporary Biological Field Technician to conduct biological monitoring in the Mojave Desert, for desert tortoise, sensitive plants, and other sensitive biological resources from fall 2020 through early 2021 with the potential to conduct biological surveys for additional projects to follow.

What you will accomplish:

  • Conduct biological surveys and monitoring, understand and train others in compliance with state and federal environmental requirements and project-specific requirements, ensure field teams’ compliance with environmental requirements.
  • Collect field data, including identification of fauna and flora. Use GPS units and tablet-based applications to record plants and wildlife and complete daily monitoring forms, communicate regularly with the project manager and assist with the preparation of weekly summary reports.
  • Photograph and record appropriate habitat, species, and landforms.
  • Operate SWCA vehicles, assure they will perform safely, and notify appropriate person if vehicle needs maintenance.
  • Ability to drive a 4-wheel-drive vehicle on rugged, back-country roads.
