GENERAL FUNCTION:

Requires highly skilled quantitative, analytical and communication skills, along with the ability to work well under pressure and tight deadlines. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

. Understand the concepts of accounting, corporate finance, capital markets and credit needed to support transactions

. Develop a strong working knowledge of various legal documents governing loan and bond transactions

. Independently build and understand complex company financial models to analyze performance and credit trends supporting advisory and capital raise transactions

. Exhibit high attention to detail and discipline to check work to produce error free and properly formatted work on a consistent basis

. Exhibit strong work ethic and passion for excellence while conducting self in a professional manner

. Independently prepare high quality presentation materials for use in client meetings and internal deal approvals covering topics such as strategic alternatives, capital markets activity and general corporate finance

. Actively participate in the origination and execution of passive and active loan and bond transactions

. Show a strong understanding of all of capital markets products gained from prior analyst experience

. Manage priorities while working on a number of high priority opportunities simultaneously with minimal oversight

YOUR POSITION WITH TNC
The Analyst, Debt Conversions will report to the Deputy Managing Director, Blue Bonds in NatureVest. Debt Conversions involve negotiating the restructuring of a country’s sovereign debt using investment capital and credit enhancement to create funding to finance marine conservation and related activities in the country.

 

The Analyst’s role will be to support the NatureVest Debt Conversions team by developing financial models, performing due diligence and risk assessment/ mitigation, conducting research, developing internal and external written and presentation materials, and providing other assistance as needed.

 
RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE
  • Support multiple members of the Debt Conversions team on meeting strategic priorities by working across multiple tasks and workstreams, including, but not limited to: financial modelling, due diligence, risk assessment, research, and development of various written and presentation materials;
  • Manage workstreams and deliverables with several variables – set realistic deadlines, manage a timeline, and ensure accountability;
  • Travel associated with this position is expected to be up to 25% of the time;
  • Act independently within broad program goals to prioritize tasks and exercise independent judgment to identify and solve problems;
  • Ensure the programmatic work is collaborative and well-integrated across the organization, including staff from NatureVest, global and regional teams;
  • Demonstrate sensitivity in handling confidential information;

Overview:
The Debt Capital Markets (DCM) team is looking for an analyst to work as part of a team focused on the origination and execution of investment grade and high yield debt capital market transactions for Latin American issuers. The DCM team focuses on all aspects of bond transactions including origination, structuring, documentation, marketing and placement across all industries and all currencies for the entire Latin American region. Responsibilities:

As the DCM analyst, you’ll be in a demanding position that requires the ability to multi-task, attention to detail, a quick learning curve and requires various types of thinking that range from creative to highly analytical.

  • Prepare weekly Latin America DCM update to be sent to clients
  • Maintain database of priced Latin America new issues
  • Maintain short credit profiles for regional clients
  • Keep marketing materials up to date
  • Prepare pitchbooks for client presentations
  • Perform transaction execution responsibilities including maintaining working party lists, roadshow presentation preparation, review of transaction documentation
  • Prepare credit memos for potential deals
  • Build financial models and conduct credit analysis

Qualifications:

 
The successful candidate will possess or demonstrate the following personal and professional attributes:
  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate (Senior) or master’s degree from an accredited university with a graduation date of December 2019 / Spring 2020; excellent academic record
  • Oral and written fluency in either Spanish or Portuguese (or both)
  • Motivated, hard-working individual, with passion to learn and excel in a demanding role
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Must be extremely reliable and responsive with strong sense of responsibility for the work product of the team
  • Willing and able to work full time hours, typically 10+ hours every weekday. Overtime may be required
  • Occasional weekend work may be required / work from home on weekends
  • Must be able to respond via mobile phone to work emails during non-traditional working hours
  • Familiarity with basic finance concepts and use of excel
  • Strong written and oral communications skills
