Under the guidance of senior members of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, the Senior Admissions Officer is responsible for the daily management of a geographic region to recruit, evaluate and enroll an academically accomplished and diverse student body to Columbia College and The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science. The officer is responsible for the day-to-day communication with students, parents, secondary school officials and alumni. The officer will be responsible for evaluating approximately 1,100-1,200 applications per recruitment cycle; responsibilities include all calls, correspondence, visitations, admissions recommendations and alumni contact; makes critical judgments, presents arguments recommending admissions decisions to the Admissions Committee; counsels candidates and their parents on admissions and curricular choices.

Responsibilities

  • The officer is responsible for managing a region which produces approximately 1,100-1,200 applications. The officer makes critical judgments and recommendations to the Committee on Admissions on the candidates from their region.
  • The officer will implement a comprehensive recruitment campaign to attract the world’s most talented students to Columbia College and The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science. The officer will travel approximately 2-4 weeks per cycle counseling and making frequent presentations to students, parents and secondary school officials concerning the unique attributes of a Columbia education. The officer will also be responsible for making frequent presentations on-campus to prospective students and their families.
  • The officer will assist with targeted recruitment initiatives, such as science and arts and humanities .
  • The officer will assist with non-first-year admission programs, such as transfer, Combined Plan and/or Visiting Student admission.
  • The officer will assist with the coordination of prospective and admitted student on-campus events.
  • Assume other responsibilities as designated by a member of the office’s senior staff.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 0-2 years related experience required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

Director of Enrollment Management

The Director of Enrollment Management oversees and directs the admission and enrollment program to achieve and maintain the school’s enrollment goals in support of the school’s mission and vision. This position reports directly to the Head of School.

The Director of Enrollment Management is responsible for leading an admission team and requires sensitivity to economic, cultural and other issues present in the enrollment of a diverse student body.
This individual will ensure operational efficiency and effectiveness throughout the recruitment and enrollment process, accounting for attrition while analyzing trends to track and leverage data to drive enrollment decision-making. Working in collaboration with the advancement and communication departments, the Director of Enrollment Management will develop and implement a strategic communication and marketing plan to raise the visibility of the school for both enrollment and fundraising. Recruitment, New Family Engagement, and Retention
