What you bring to the table:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree
  • Solid proficiency with solid modeling CAD tools to create mechanical models and drawings
  • Solid knowledge with technical standards, manufacturing/fabrication methods, and government/industry standards

QA Engineer Manufacturing/Mechanical

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Work closely with Customers and Manufacturing engineering to develop process control requirements for new and revised product.

2. Create, review and approve new PPAP documentation following customer and internal processes and procedures.

3. Develop new inspection methods for critical quality attributes working closely with the QC Operations Manager and customers as required.

4. Utilize software to generate ballooned drawings to create in-process, intermediate, and final product acceptance inspection plans.

5. Qualify and approve new inspection methods by conducting measurement system analysist using GR&R.

6. Establish process control by performing process capability studies as required to justify reduced inspection sampling plans.

7. Support continuous improvement efforts utilizing Lean/Six Sigma, and other quality tools and statistical methods.

8. Evaluate and investigate internal and customer rejections.

9. Perform root cause analysis as needed using quality methods such as 5 why, fishbone, 6M, etc.

10. Performs other duties as assigned.

Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies, all over the world.

The Mechanical Engineer will provide technical expertise in the design and coordination of complex and sophisticated projects involving the construction, renovation, and repair of facilities for the 183 schools under the Bureau of Indian Education (BIE) and BIE facilities around the country. This position will monitor and track the progress of designated projects and provide routine reports of accomplishments to appropriate officials and offices.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide expert professional technical assistance and support to the organization in the mechanical engineering field
  • Perform professional engineering and project management work to protect life, safety, health, and property

Qualifications to be successful in the role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Must be a licensed Professional Engineer
  • Knowledge of mechanical engineering concepts, principles, and practices
  • Extensive experience handling mechanical engineering renovation projects
  • Comprehensive knowledge of site planning, building design, and construction means, methods, and codes
  • Extensive knowledge of scheduling, material, and labor cost estimating sufficient to evaluate compliance with environmental health, safety, and protection requirements
  • Able to use computer software programs such as MS Office and CADD
