St HOPE Leadership Academy is a college-preparatory public charter middle school in Harlem, New York City. The school opened in 2008 and serves students in grades 6 through 8. St HOPE provides a rigorous curriculum, intensive interventions for students performing below grade level, and a defined character development program in a structured and disciplined learning environment. Duties and Responsibilities:

· Responsible for all lesson plans, assignments, assessments, and other instructional materials and methods of teaching in your classroom

· Collect, report, and analyze both quantitative and qualitative data about students and refine lesson plans accordingly

· Support a school culture of high academic standards and behavioral standards grounded in restorative practices, with the aim of creating a supportive and engaging learning environment.

Qualifications:

· Discipline specific Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Education preferred

· NYS teaching certification or eligibility to be certified

· Special Education certification is a plus

· Ability to work as part of a high performing team, including exceptional communication and organizational skills

· Desire to work in an urban middle school, experience in NYC preferred

Valence College Prep is a small school, with 225 5th and 6th grade scholars in 2020-2021, and we’re growing by one grade per year to a full size of 440 scholars in 2022. Job Summary

As a school, our first core belief is that excellent instruction yields strong academic performance. Our teachers have the most important job in our school, and our program is designed for teachers to be given the tools and support to thrive as classroom leaders every day. A Valence teacher teaches four periods per day, driving students toward mastery of the New York State standards in English, Math, Science, Social Studies, Computer Science, or Physical Education.
