The Industrial Engineering Team is an integral part of day to day operations and routinely works alongside many of the other organizations here in Palmdale. Responsibilities will include:

  • Analyzes lead times, queue times, work-in-process, cycle times, and throughput to meet customer demand most effectively and efficiently.
  • Builds scalable and sustainable models to optimize product flow, while incorporating cost, schedule, and resource constraints.
  • Develop optimized scheduling tools and align SAP/MRP systems with an executable plan given various capacity constraints. Additionally, communicate requirements planning and systems framework with IT, ERP, business analytics, and data science teams.
  • Incorporate complex interdependencies within a system to account for the interaction across multiple cost centers, programs, equipment, and tools.
  • Work with developers to design an interactive user interface that will be effective at scheduling jobs across cost centers.
  • Implement and lead Lean Manufacturing principles across the assembly line such as 5S, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizan, 5S, Kanban, Takt Time, Gemba, Mistake Proofing, Continuous Process Improvement, etc.
  • Develop and maintain Management Visual Boards with metrics that track schedule and production health.
  • Develop and maintain the production floor and equipment layouts for the cost centers, capacity plans, and sequence of operation work flows.
  • Establish and standardize process flows and safety/accident preventative practices.
  • Lead and drive positive change using iterative and agile methodologies.
  • Strong expertise using Microsoft Office Suite, especially Visio, Project, PowerPoint, and Excel including macros, formulas, and pivot tables.

Basic Qualifications for Principal Industrial Engineer:

  • Bachelor's Degree with 10 or more years of engineering, analytics, data or manufacturing experience; OR a Master’s Degree with 8 or more years of engineering, analytics, data or manufacturing experience; Or an Associate’s Degree with 12 years of engineering, manufacturing, or data analysis experience; Or 14 year of engineering, manufacturing, or data analysis experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance and agility to obtain Program access
  • Strong Microsoft Office Suite experience such as Visio, Project, PowerPoint, and Excel

Preferred Qualifications for Industrial Engineer:

  • Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering STEM Degree.
  • Professional experience in the industrial engineering field.
  • Experience leading projects and teams.
  • Active in-scope DOD Secret security clearance that has been granted/renewed within the past 5 years.

Summary of Position:
The Industrial Engineer will work directly with plant managers and operations employees to focus on improving current process efficiency, material flow, labor productivity, quality, safety and space utilization. The position is responsible for contributing knowledge, performing analysis, developing solutions, justifying investment, managing implementation projects, integrating systems with processes, providing training, and measuring results.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Provide Operational Excellence leadership, which includes: identifying performance, customer service and competitive weaknesses; developing solution options using improvement methods; defining and financially justifying projects; documenting processes and practices; integrating systems and equipment; training and coaching of resources; leading on-site resources to execute projects; tracking project status and results; anticipating and removing project barriers; and developing team members.
  • Ensure projects are integrated and aligned with business strategy and coordinated with the appropriate process owners to accomplish key goals.
  • Utilize improvement and analysis methods, such as strategic planning, operations research, Value Stream Mapping, Lean Thinking, Six Sigma, facility and work cell design, product slotting, IT systems integration, performance measurement, benchmarking, financial analysis, and cost justification.
  • Conduct and facilitate workouts with plant personnel to understand current processes and challenges, to encourage input and jointly develop solution options, to provide training, and manage change.
  • Recommend expenditures, specify equipment, source vendors and support contracting for capital projects.
  • Define and manage multiple operational improvement initiatives concurrently.
  • Effectively manage multiple projects across multiple facilities in the organization.
  • Measure and monitor performance across multiple facilities on a continuous basis to identify improvement opportunities, to maintain process control, and ensure that improvement benefits are realized.
