Viamer Biosciences is commercializing our proprietary CYPREX polymer biomaterials for use in medical devices and combination drug delivery products. The Senior Polymer Process Engineer/Chemist will play a key role in the R&D scale-up and transfer to manufacturing of our polymer technology.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the synthesis and scale-up (multi-Kg) of novel monomers and polymers for medical device and pharmaceutical applications.
  • Lead the transition from development phase into production (GMP) of new processes and products.
  • Support risk analysis reviews of materials, processes, and products.
  • Plan and execute characterization testing of polymer products, and analyze root causes on a wide variety of materials failures related to issues arising in development, manufacturing, or post-processing of products.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with 3rd party stakeholders including suppliers, testing facilities, contract manufacturers, and customers to drive product development.
  • Synthesize and present results in high quality technical formats appropriate for various business, legal, and regulatory environments.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • MS/PhD degree in Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or related field.
  • Must have 3-8 years of industry experience in large-scale (multi-Kg) organic synthesis (preferably GMP polymer synthesis)
  • Specific experience (3+ years) in an FDA/ISO regulated industry environment, required.
  • Advanced knowledge of mechanistic organic chemistry, practical synthetic techniques, and analytical methods, required.
  • Knowledge of statistics and DOE methods, required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; with demonstrated experience in technical writing.
